Increased Organization Security

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of protection for your GetThru account by requiring a second verification step during login. This helps keep sensitive settings and data secure. Once enabled, admins, moderators, and account owners will need to use a six-digit code from an authenticator app when they sign in. MFA is a simple way to add an extra layer of security for anyone with access to sensitive account settings.

In this guide, we detail how you can enable MFA within your account, and set up with third-party authenticator app of their choice.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

MFA User Types

MFA only applies to users with a permission level of moderator or above, as those users have access to the account dashboard. This includes the following permission levels:

  • Account Owners
  • Admins
  • Moderators

How to Enable & Set Up MFA

1. Notify Team in advance

Start by informing your admins and moderators that you plan to enable MFA on GetThru, as they will lose access to the organization account until they have set up MFA for their device.

You should instruct them to download a third-party authenticator app. Recommended options include Authy, 1Password, or LastPass.

2. Contact Our Support Team

To enable MFA on your account, please submit a ticket or email support@getthru.io and include your organization name in the request. Once MFA is enabled in your account, we'll inform you by following up on the ticket.

3. Scan the QR Code

Once MFA is enabled on your organization's account, you will need to scan a QR code at the first login to set it up. All moderators, admins, and account owners will need to complete this first step in the process.

  • Scan the code using your third-party app.
  • Enter the 6-digit authentication number.
  • Click the "Verify Code" button to complete the setup:

4. Entering the Third-Party App Code

When you, or any other moderator and above user, logs into the MFA-enabled GetThru account, a prompt to enter a new 6-digit code will display.

  • Open your authenticator app
  • Enter the code
  • Press the "Login" button.

Troubleshooting

In some instances you may need to re-enable MFA, such as if your code isn't working or you accidentally removed GetThru from your third party authenticator app.

If you need to re-enable, click on the Show QR Code text link, which will allow you to reset your authentication set up and continue to log in.
