GetThru <> VAN Integration

GetThru's VAN Integration is a two-way sync that lets you import lists from VAN and export contact data and campaign results to VAN.

What Is a VAN Integration?

A VAN integration connects your GetThru account to your committee’s account in the Voter Activation Network (VAN). VAN is a voter database used by many organizations to manage contact lists, track engagement, and coordinate outreach efforts. Integrating VAN with GetThru allows you to move data between the two systems without manual uploads or exports.

Understanding MyVoters vs MyCampaign

VAN has two databases that separate voter data from volunteer and organizing data.

• MyVoters: contains the state voter file and is typically used for outreach to registered voters.
• MyCampaign: contains data about your volunteers, supporters, and internal organizing activity.

What You Can Get From VAN

Once connected, the integration allows you to obtain contact lists that you can use for outreach. 

What You Can Send to VAN

During and after your texting or calling campaigns, you can send data from GetThru to VAN. Depending on the product used (ThruText/ThruTalk), and which VAN database you're syncing with (MyCampaign/MyVoter), you can send:

• MyCampaign and MyVoters:
  • Contact History
  • Survey Responses
  • Activist Codes
  • Canvass Results
• MyCampaign only:
  • Events

How Many API Keys Can You Integrate with GetThru?

GetThru can integrate with a unique API key for each product, ThruTalk and ThruText, and with a unique API key for each VAN database, MyVoter and MyCampaign. This means you can have up to 4 unique API keys in a single GetThru account:

• ThruText MyVoter key
• ThruText MyCampaign key
• ThruTalk MyVoter key
• ThruTalk MyCampaign key
